Only God Knows

I will stand beside you keeping you safe and warm,
Wrap my arms around you, protecting you from harm.
Listen to your stories in a loving and kind way,
Hold your hand as we walk to steady you every day.

I will read from the good book to comfort your heart;
Send you a spiritual message when we are far apart.
Only God knows the reason that this life made you crawl,
He has given me the strength to catch you as you fall.

The Nature of My Prayers

Wishing again tonight on a falling star,
That I could at last know where you are.
Hearing your thoughts and union of us,
Fills me with hope and once again trust.

Do you hear my thoughts in the midst of your cares?
Does God let you in on the nature of my prayers?
Are you lonely searching for the wholeness inside?
Are your eyes tired from the nights you've cried?

All of these questions I'd like to ask of you,
To see if you remember the sacredness of two.
To know the life path that was once intertwined,
To at last know the celebration of all that is mine.
